Nurse stars with bat and ball as Sir Wesley X1 beat Sir Garfield X1 by 24 runs in Legends 50-over Final

Bridgetown, Barbados, December 23 - (www.bcacricket.org) - Ashley Nurse starred with both bat and ball as Sir Wesley Hall X1 beat Sir Garfield Sobers X1 by 24 runs in the Final of the BCA Cricket Legends 50-over Cup at Kensington Oval today.

Nurse scored a timely topscore of 55 off only 35 balls with five fours and four sixes at No. 10 in a total of 238 for nine off 50 overs, and then picked up three for 41 off eight overs with his off-spin as the Sir Garfield X1 were bowled out for 214 in 46.3 overs.

With Sir Wesley Hall X1 struggling on 139 for eight in the 39th over after they were sent in, Nurse added 90 in 10.2 overs with Shamar Springer, who made 43 not out off 54 balls including three boundaries .

Kyle Hope scored 44 off 88 balls containing one four at No. 3.

Jair McAllister took two for 18, fellow pacer Nyeem Young, two for 27 and left-arm spinner Joshua Bishop, two for 40.

Chad Williams topscored for the Sir Garfield X1 with 50 off 47 balls including one four and two sixes at No. 9. He added 74 in 11.1 overs for the ninth wicket with Keon Harding, who scored 29 off 37 balls.

Captain Shai Hope made 37 off 36 balls including four boundaries and Nicholas Kirton, 36 off 58 deliveries with five fours. The pair put on 78 in 13.1 overs for the fourth wicket before both fell to Nurse in quick succession.

Akeem Jordan was the leading wicket-taker with four for 13 off 8.3 overs. Fellow fast bowler Miguel Cummins picked up two for 39 off 10 overs.

The Tournament was in preparation for the 2021 Cricket West Indies CG Insurance Super 50 Cup, which is slated for Antigua in February.
