Former Maple captain Wayne Gibbons dies after long illness

Bridgetown, Barbados, April 2 - (www.bcacricket.org) - Wayne Gibbons, a former Maple top division captain, has died after a long illness.

Gibbons represented Maple in the BCA First (now known as Elite) division Championship in the 1980s and 1990s.

A medium-pace bowler and lower order batsman, he captained the Trents, St. James club in the Division 1 Championship in 1982, 1983 and 1986.

Gibbons was Maple’s leading bowler in 1985, taking 33 wickets at an outstanding average of 8.78.
