Bridgetown, Barbados, June 4 - (www.bcacricket.org) - All-rounder Romario Roach, who has tasted title successes with Barbados Under-15 and Under-17 teams, is now in the United Kingdom on a two-year scholarship.
A former student of St. Giles Primary and Combermere Secondary, the 17-year-old Roach will initially spend the next three months (Summer Term) at Scarborough College in Yorkshire, where he will sit his CAPE exams.
Under the scholarship, Roach will choose six subjects in the International Baccalaureate examinations.
Roach is a left-hand batsman and right-arm medium-pace bowler, who played in the champion Barbados Under-15 teams in 2017 and 2018, as well as the national Under-17s in 2019 when they retained the regional title.
Expressing excitement at the opportunity to play and study in England, Roach thanked the Barbados Cricket Association (BCA).
Chaired by veteran Board Director, Winston Stafford OBE, the Education, Scholarships and Placements Committee of the BCA was instrumental in securing the placement for Roach, who left the island on May 30. He was seen off at the Grantley Adams International Airport by his father Richard Roach, Stafford and BCA Operations officer, Stephen Proverbs.
